Washington State Divorce Lawyers

The family law attorneys at Davidson, Czeisler & Kilpatric, P.S. represent clients in marital dissolutions (divorce) with discretion, experience, and fidelity to their goals. We are dedicated family law practitioners who aid clients in the division of marital propertychildren's issues, and the legal dissolution of unmarried, cohabitating couples no matter how complex the situation. Whatever our clients' needs, Davidson, Czeisler & Kilpatric, P.S. will be there for them.

Washington State Marital Dissolution or Divorce

Divorce laws have changed in the past few decades, both in name changes as well as substantively. Washington is now a no-fault state—one party need only declare the marriage "irretrievably broken" to petition for the marital dissolution. Alimony is now spousal maintenance; custody and visitation are subsumed in parenting plans. However, one thing is still certain: Davidson, Czeisler & Kilpatric, P.S. will represent you with strength and experience.

We make use of our firm's extensive business experience to evaluate pensions, small businesses, and suppressed income, and make sure you receive a fair portion of the marital property. While we explore all options for alternative dispute resolution and mediation, we always serve our clients best interests, and will aggressively represent them in court as necessary or directed.

The Costs of Living Together--Or What Are Meretricious Relationships?

Unmarried couples—opposite sex and same sex couples—in Washington now may legally dissolve their relationship in a manner similar to a divorce. The dissolution of a meretricious relationship can be as complex as a divorce, and may involve parenting plans (child custody and visitation), child support, maintenance, and property division. We have handled many of these dissolutions, and can provide you with effective representation. In addition, we can help you prepare in advance to avoid a protracted legal battle by drafting certain documents, including cohabitation agreements and separation contracts.
